Our story

Video Cat was born from Black Dog Video, a hot spot for Vancouver cinephiles since 1996. After launching in summer 2020 we have stayed true to our mission to serve the community with high quality entertainment, while expanding our focus on physical media sales and pop culture merchandise. Facing off against streaming services and faceless online corporations, we stay committed to providing Vancouver with neighbourhood, brick & mortar access to a wealth of films at fair prices.
We pride ourselves on our friendly and knowledgeable staff who are always happy to help with recommendations, or to help you find that special item that you’re looking for. Stop by and enjoy the personal shopping experience, sense of nostalgia, and community that simply cannot be replicated by streaming services. Experience a wider selection of genres, including rare and hard-to-find titles. Place special orders to track down the uncommon items you need to round out your personal collection. Come see for yourself why we’re the consummate destination for movie and pop culture enthusiasts in Vancouver.
